Procedures of buying a used car in Shanghai
BUY A USED CAR IN SHANGHAI:
1. Car Inspection.
After emails and tell communications, Shang Car drives your idea car to a public place or your place for your inspection. Shang Car will have a proposal of this car during the inspection.
2. Payments:
After the car inspection, you confirmed that you are going to buy this car. It’s time to arrange payment and deliver the car. Payments: we accept cash or cheque. For cash, you could arrange down payment or fully payment WHICH is 100% prepaid.
As for down payment:
a. we accept 10% of the car’s price as down payment, we will begin to procedure the ownership transfer as soon as this 10% been received.
b. The rest 90% will be paid after you successfully received the car and all the legal vehicle documents and all under your name.
As for 100% prepaid:
You could drive the car home the same day we received the 100% prepaid of the car.
We will take the rest procedures of transfer the ownership of car to your name.
3. Register the ownership of car under your name:
We submit all the following documents to road authority to transfer the ownership:
Previous Owner providers: previous owner’s id card, household book, Vehicle Register Certificate, Receipt of Vehicle Tax, Invoice of Vehicle, Vehicle License of the PRC). Shang Car takes car of all the documents of the previous owner, so there’s worry free for you. As for other costs, there will be no any government fee, car tax, nor commission involved.
Current Owner (You or your company)
As company, you provide:
a. Business license [Original]
b. Organization code license number [Original]
c. Passport copy or I.D. card copy of Legal Representative of Party A
d. Letter of Authorization with original company chop and Legal Representative’s signature on it.
e. Bring the company’s original chop when sign the contract and put the chop on some of the car register forms.
As individual, you provide
a. Passport Copy [original]
b. Work Permit [original]
c. Residence Permit [original]
The work permit and residence need to be issued in Shanghai.
4. Enjoy Safety Drive
After 3 working days, all the legal documents will be received from road authority: the car that you purchased will be register under your name. Enjoy Safety Drive in Shanghai.
For insurances: Please be noted, there will be no any insurances covered after you get the vehicle and all other legal documents, you will need to buy the insurances:
a. traffic compulsory insurance
b. Third party liability insurance.
c. Car Damage Insurance
d. Car Theft Protection Insurance
The above insurances provides the basic car insurance in Shanghai. You could also purchase other insurances if you need more insurance. The insurance will come to affect the same day you bought.
